| ZOC TO HOST FUNDRAISING CORPORATE GOLF DAY: 4 MAY. |

The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee will next Friday, host its corporate golf day at Royal Harare golf course. THe tournament is being held pramarily as part of the on going 'Going for Gold' campaign to raise awareness and funds for Zimbabwe's team that wil compete at the London Olympic Games in 2012. The touranament will also celebrate the adoption of golf as an Olympic sport of the XXXI Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro.

| ZOC TO HOST WOMEN AND SPORT SEMINAR 4 TO 6 MAY. |

The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC) will from 4 to 6 May host a Women and Sport seminar whose focus is mainly on managment and governance. The seminar will be attended by the 30 affiliates of ZOC. Given the dynamic nature of volunteer sport, it has been noted that there is need to target women in leadership positions from the national and provincial levels from around the country.
Kathy Lobb the Chairperson of the Women and Sport Commission, who has recently been appointed Deputy Chef de Mission to the London 2012 Olympic Games highlighted that the expected outcomes of the seminar among others is to

inform and encourage participation of women in the sport sector in Zimbabwe. She added that her commission's aim it to assist and improve women in leadership roles, management and administrative skills. During the course presentations will cover amoung others: Governance of sports organizations, the sports structure in Zimbabwe, conflict management and Olympism.

Born 11 March 1987: 25 years of age. Ngoni is a Zimbabwean sprinter and long jumper. He is the national record holder over 100m and Long Jump for Zimbabwe with 9.89s (+1.3 m/s) and 8.40m (0.0 m/s) respectively. Both performances achieved during the 2011 NCAA Division I Championships in Des Moines, Iowa where he completed the 100m long jump double.Makusha has become one of the only four athletes to win the double (100m & Long Jump) at the NCAA championships. The three others are DeHart Hubbard (1925), Jesse Owens (1935 & 1936), and Carl Lewis (1981). ". In 2011, Makusha was named the men's winner of The Bowerman which is awarded to the top collegiate track & field athlete of the year.
Looking ahead to the 2012 Games in London, Makusha aspires to join Kirsty Coventry on the medals podium for Zimbabwe. “To see a young man grow up like he did – it’s doubly special for me, because of where he came from,” said Ken Harnden, a fellow Zimbabwean who is Florida State’s director of sprints, hurdles & relays.
